trick or treat

today was anna's last day of school. we were all so sad. she gave hugs to all of the kids in her class before we left. her teacher said she would miss her sweet little "anna ruth" so much. (her teacher's name is miss ruth). during school all of the kids were so excited about halloween. one little girl named casey said that she prayed and prayed that halloween would come. lol! they must have talked about trick-or-treating too, because anna couldn't wait to get started tonight. she had never gone trick-or-treating before. so we went to the first house, and even though the porch light was on they didn't have any candy. we went to the second house, a man answered and gave anna a piece of eyeball candy, and that was it. she was so freaked out. bless her heart! so we headed to the zoo boo at the san antonio zoo instead. we had a blast. the event was sponsered by a large number of companies that all contributed TONS of candy. the zoo sponsered games for the little kids too. poor little ella. this whole day was just too much for her. she was so excited that she couldn't nap this afternoon. so then she was so exhausted tonight. i think she had a fun time, though. she wasn't very cooperative for pictures, though. so i got a few of anna and just one of my little sleeping beauty. the dark one is a picture of anna peeking through a glow in the dark ball. i tried using the manual settings on my camera, but there wasn't enough light for her face. hope everyone had a very happy halloween!

halloween weekend part 1...

ok! here it is! my first blog post! please forgive my errors and typos because it's 2 am (well, really 1am with the time change). late night seems to be the only time that i can use the computer and not get interrupted. even ella knows how to surf the web now!

we have had a great weekend so far. friday was the harvest festival for anna's preschool on base. the party included games, horse rides, a small pumpkin patch, sparky the fire dog and even crime dog mcgruff. anna got to spend a lot of time with her friends from school, and she was so excited. she just kept running and skipping to all of the different games and entertainment and waving and saying hi to her friends all along the way. ella had a great time too. she had her first pony ride. she wasn't too sure about the bumpiness of it, and by the end she was almost in tears, but she tried so hard to be brave. she loved playing with all of anna's friends too. and she really enjoyed the snow cones. :D

they wore their halloween costumes to the party. there's a kind of funny story behind anna's costume. for weeks she has been wearing a cinderella costume that i bought at the disney store on clearance awhile back. i mean she wore it night and day. she even insisted that we call her cinderella instead of anna. well, as halloween came closer i asked her what she wanted to be, and without hesitation she said, "a witch." lol! that totally came out of nowhere! luckily for me my grandma had sewn a witch halloween costume for me (or my cousins --- i'm not sure who had it first) when we were kids. so my mom sent it to me and she wore it so proudly. ella, on the other hand, always wanted to be a princess and had to be sleeping beauty because she has a pink dress. that girl knows what she wants and sticks with it! here are a few pictures from the festival.

halloween weekend part 2....

today we received a phone call at 8:30 am telling us our house was going to be shown to some renters between 9 and 11. yikes! we frantically cleaned and showered. then we decided to go to the love creek orchards pumpkin patch in medina, tx. we had so much fun! the girls ran through the hay maze at least 3 times, and climbed and ran on the bales of hay for an hour. after all of that hay we went to the petting zoo on the farm and petted goats, rabbits, horses and baby chicks. the girls loved the chicks. they were enclosed in a circle of hay bales so the kids could get in and pick up the chicks and hold them. it didn't take anna long to overcome her nervousness and just grab them and pick them up. she loved holding them on her lap and petting them. she even made some little nests for them with the loose hay in the circle. ella did a really good job holding one on her lap too. she even gave it a few kisses. after the chicks the girls got their faces painted and then we headed home. tomorrow (or i guess today) we are hoping for a nice, relaxing day!
