snow day!!!

wooooohooooo!!!
kurt's work called him at 5 am to tell him they were delayed for 2 hours. and that's when i saw that anna's school was closed! and i was so excited i couldn't get back to sleep. lol!!! we are a little sad that ella didn't get to have her valentine's party, but she'll get to celebrate thursday instead. so we spent our morning making chocolate covered bananas. mmmmmmm.......! they are delicious!!! now, unfortunately, i have a chocolate, peanut and sprinkle covered kitchen to clean up too, but it was worth it because they were soooo good!!! :D well, and anna LOVED the chocolate coating, but, she decided she didn't want to eat the banana part because they "looked gooey." sometimes she is too much!!! :)

i guess it's time for me to change my banner, huh? i left it up since i was still in mourning. :( lol! poor wilson is still sick. we took him to the doctor finally on wednesday (we couldn't get in until then unless we went to the er. ack!). by then he was really hacking and wheezing, so he had to have an x-ray to rule out pneumonia. oh my - i know there are so many worse things but that x-ray was soooo awful. i don't think it really hurt him but it was so hard for me to watch him while he sat there looking at me with his eyes saying, "why are you letting them do this to me?" they didn't find anything, thankfully, but they do think he has rsv or a virus similar to that. yesterday was a good day for him but he wakes up so congested in the morning. he's getting pretty tired of sitting in his carseat in the bathroom while the shower runs for steam. and i'm just tired of him feeling bad - i just feel so bad for the little guy. and the poor girls are ready for him to be well so they can get some more mommy time. it just stinks all around! we have been so, so blessed to not have many illnesses in our family so far! and this too shall pass. and we can't wait 'til it does!!! thank goodness for lunch with the bagels today!!! :) hope my flying monkey doesn't knock me to the floor! ;)

are no fun!!! all of us are sick but kurt. poor kurt! he has done such a good job of taking care of all of us! anna isn't too bad so that's good too! poor little wilson didn't sleep much last night and is kind of cranky today. i gave him a cookie to cheer him up but even that couldn't keep him from drifting off in his swing. :) (thanks again, lisa, for letting us borrow your swing!)

relaxing weekend...

i have to admit i am quite a bit jealous of all of my friends in anaheim this weekend for cha! but we had a great, relaxing weekend at home too. lots of pajama wearing, blankie snuggling, book reading and cartoon watching. we spent a lot of saturday in the toy room downstairs playing in the pretend kitchen. the kids and kurt went to the mall and brought home new crocs. we almost never go to mass on saturday night but we tried this weekend and sure enough there was another event going on. so wilson and i had to stand in the back most of the time. well he is a good boy in church but he just gets so excited and when he's excited he's so noisy! hee! in the back of church he flirted with an adorable 18 month old little girl. he likes the ladies! ;) he and an older gentleman also talked stocks and bonds. hee! kurt made us a delicious breakfast on sunday morning. i think the pictures explain the rest of the day, besides a short play date and some shoe shopping later in the day. :) and note that i took at least 10 pictures in a row of all three of the kiddos together and i only managed to get them all looking once and ella had her tongue sticking out! ack! hee! ;)

the girls are very into baking and cooking these days. maybe it's because santa brought them a kitchen for christmas. or maybe it's because we've been watching a lot of the food network lately. whatever the reason, we are having so much fun! today's creation was a heart shaped cake. i have to say the girls are excellent bakers. it's delicious! :)

it's starting...

anna asked for a cell phone of her own tonight. yes, she is in kindergarten. apparently a boy in her class already has one. of course i have no idea if maybe this kid has medical problems or some reason why he might need one. but she thinks she needs one. and is very adamant about it. eeek!!!

wilson was baptized today! my brother john and his wife tall anna are wilson's godparents. he was such a good boy! he slept through mass and woke up just in time for his part. he actually wanted to dive into the baptismal font. :) he didn't cry a bit and even gave father a hug after the ceremony. he's such a sweetie! after church we had gabby's coke cow for lunch while we watched da bears!!! superbowl bound!!!! wooohoooo!!! :D

still busy!

i thought once christmas was over we could all catch our breath and relax. that has yet to happen! we had a GREAT christmas (pictures soon!!!), other than having the sickies the whole time. :( and round 2 of them has started today, i'm afraid. :P the girls got almost every single (reasonable) thing on their lists. so you can imagine the past weekend was spent finding room for everything and letting go of a few oldies. we spent new year's eve weekend with my brother charley and his girlfriend mandy (pictures of that soon too), as has become our tradition --- we've spent the past 3 new years with them, kind of coincidently. since we were all sick none of us actually made it to new years, though. next year we have vowed not to be party poopers (as ella says.) hee!!! and speaking of uncle charley, he turns the big 3-0 today, so happy birthday!!!!! :D here's a totally unrelated picture of wilson eating cereal for the first time. hopefully next time i won't take a month to post. ;)

christmas program and grandpa k's

anna had her christmas program at school on friday. they all did such a great job!!! they sang a song to the tune of jingle bells to help them learn how to spell december (dec - dec - ember), feliz navidad, and they sang and signed rudolph. i was seriously so impressed! we had cookies afterwards and they all got to show off their gingerbread houses. they were so cool!

we spent the weekend at grandpa k's with aunt debbie, uncle corey, chloe and caleb. it was grandpa k's birthday and for a birthday / christmas present we got him a mac mini. now he can surf the web without having his computer lock up on him!

christmas lights...

we drove and looked at christmas lights for a bit tonight and came upon a house that had lights made into a big red N. (for nebraska of course). i asked the girls if we should do a black or gold I and ella said, "no! we need a big pink E." heeeeee!!!! yes we do!!! :D

happy thanksgiving!!!

hope you all had a great one! we are having a lot of fun, despite the fact that anna's poor tummy is bothering her. she just can't shake the icky feeling she's had since being sick last monday. but otherwise we've had a great time! mimi and papa came on thursday morning. we had a great dinner! and of course black friday was SO fun! we found most of our great bargains at the bx. i'm almost done with my christmas shopping -- just 4 or 5 more people to buy for. friday afternoon kurt got almost all of the outdoor lights put up. we had to add a few more this year to keep up with our enthusiastic neighbors. ;) today we put up a few of our decorations. the tree is up and the girls got a tree from the target $1 spot for their room. tomorrow we'll finish decorating and pray that the kids let us take a nap! ;) well after da bears game, of course. here are a few pictures (click on wilson's picture to see more)...

just a quickie

i've been so bad about updating! i've been taking too many pictures with my new lens and i haven't had a chance to sort through them all. but i just had to share this one ella took with our old little sony. she's pretty talented! lol! she came up with the pose, of course. ;)

trick or treat practice...

at the zoo. we took the girls on sunday. the zoo was offering TONS of candy, ice cream, and even cereal boxes from various sponsors. we weren't really prepared for how busy it was. so we hit a few candy spots and headed to elmwood park to play. we found many beautiful settings for pictures. in fact there were quite a few photographers taking family portraits and senior pictures. it was just such a beautiful fall day. kurt and i enjoyed it as much as we could, although our hearts were (and still are) quite heavy. here are a ton of pictures from the day. not too many great ones but we were fighting the crowds and juggling the kids and the candy. :)

happy anniversary!!!

kurt and i have been married 10 years today! we got a sitter for the girls and took wilson with us to granite city. ooooooh wow. yum!!! thank you bagel girls for recommending that place! now i wish i had gone there for lunch and dinner. :) but anyway. lol! i'm so lucky to be married to such a great guy. don't get me wrong, our marriage is far from perfect. i mean he is a cowboy's fan, after all. and he dares to like the american league. bleh! but he takes such good care of us. he works so hard at his job and then comes home and gives baths and gets the girls to bed. he's such a great father and so supportive of everything i do. here's to 10 years and hopefully many, many more. :)

journaling

i started this blog awhile ago mostly to use as a place to jot down things as they happen so i don't forget them and so i can use them for journaling on scrapbook pages later. but i haven't done a very good job of that lately! i need to get back to that. so here are a few things i need to keep --

for the longest time ella has hummed while she's eating. she hums the most if she is really enjoying what she's eating. she hadn't done it for a long time, but this morning while she was eating her granola bar she started humming again. she's my musical girl! she's always making up songs and she sings them out loud to us. she gets pretty upset if we interrupt her singing. which sometimes is hard because her songs are LONG!!!

usually i find it hard to write about wilson. i mean he is so cute and sweet. he loves his sisters, smiles a lot and likes to bob around. but tonight he made his mama fall even deeper in love with him. when i'm putting him to sleep he always grabs my finger and i lay my hand on his chest. sometimes he gives me the half closed squint to see if i'm still there i guess. i can rub the very top of his little nose and he usually zonks right out. but tonight he just had my finger grasped so hard that i couldn't rub his nose. so i bent down and gave him a little kiss. and he closed his eyes. and smiled. oooh how he melted my heart!!! i think he might love me almost as much as i love him! :)

aren't they cute? :) the girls love their little brother so much! i'm sure in a few years when they are pulling each other's hair out i will need to come back to this picture to remember how nice they were. lol! wilson's face just totally lights up when his sisters come in the room. he gets a HUGE grin and wiggles from the excitement. anna loves to hold wilson and cuddle with him, as long as he's not fussying or drooling. ella gives him all kinds of kisses and pats. she always walks up to him saying, "oh wilsie!" and speaking of the little man, he's waking up now so there goes break time!

two posts in a week!!!

wow, huh? ;) we had a busy day! ella had preschool so wilson and anna and i had a playdate with lisa and alex (and pictures from that can be seen on her blog --- just click on lisa on the list on the right). then we went to a cute little farm that had a huge pumpkin patch and two barns filled to the brim with pumpkins. the girls wanted to buy about 30 pumpkins --- they just kept picking out ones that were too cute to pass up, apparently. lol! we ended up with about 8. 4 are outside but the girls insisted that the small ones stay inside. so now i'm thinking we might need just a few more since 4 is such a weird number to work with. lol! we were all tired when we got home. ella just crashed. anna had to have a few snuggles with wilson, though. i don't think she likes him much. lol!!! ok - sorry for rambling --- here's a link to the pictures. http://picasaweb.google.com/Holly.Koenigsfeld/20061017203835

just a little bragging...

guess i won't be posting about the hawkeyes this week! or the bears for that matter! ack!
i'm going to brag a little about my sweet anna. she has this week off from school. yay!!! we had a wild day today. we did get to sleep in until 8 (i never thought i would think of 8 as sleeping in!). but at 8:45 the girls' little neighbor friend came for the day (i was babysitting). they had quite a full morning of waterpainting, computer playing, dancing, playing house, school and dress up, all before noon. they wore me out! the girls and i snuggled and watched a short movie, and just as it was over lisa and her boys came over for a playdate / babysitting (she had to babysit for me). phew! (wilson is notably out of all of the events. he was up almost all night and so he slept a lot today. he's having pooping issues. :P sorry if that's tmi! :D )

so lisa babysat while i went to anna's conference. i'm so proud of her! she has learned SO much since school started! she can write all of her letters, and she is starting to spell out words phoenetically well enough to write in a journal. and her math skills are very excellent. but most of all i'm impressed with how much her confidence has grown. the first few weeks of school were so shaky. she cried almost every morning. she cried almost every day at lunch. she was so nervous. but now she is a "shining star" in her class. those were her teacher's words. her teacher told me that she takes time out to help the other kids who are struggling in class. and she's very sensitive and sweet and great to have around. you know, i've always known that about her, but it's so great that her teacher sees that in her too. i'm so glad she shares her gifts with the other kids. hee! ok - i could go on and on. i just love that girl! and i couldn't be more proud.

(and you would think i would have a good picture of her to post with this! guess i better work on that one! eek!) :D

go hawkeyes!

we all went over to iowa city for the game this weekend. what fun! the moon on friday night was so beautiful! we had to get up EARLY on saturday to drive to iowa city from ankeny. it was beautiful watching the sun rise. i took tons of pictures, but it was a little hard to do from a moving car and through a windshield covered with bugs. :P as we got to iowa city we tuned the radio to our old college station just as it started playing the fight song. we started to change the channel after the fight song was over --- the station was playing a rock song --- but ella told us not to and that she liked that music. hee! our little rocker! everyone enjoyed tailgating --- even wilson! anna seemed to get the hang of it the most --- she was lounging on the lawn chair just munching away. the girls had a blast dancing to all of the different music around us. we met up with some old friends and had a great time catching up. the game was great! perfect weather and a big win!

this morning the girls and mimi made pancakes. yes that is a big glob of butter ella is eating. ick! anna did a lot of the cooking. she's growing up too fast!!! this weekend she printed her whole name for the very first time. she still needs a littel work on remembering how to spell koenigsfeld, though. :)

rosadita...

i have to write down a few rosadita stories before i forget them. rosadita is someone from ella's imagination. she has been a friend, a sister, and a babysitter at different times. most of the time we hear sweet stories involving rosadita. but last week rosadita died. apparently she was eaten by monsters. the next day she came back to life. but when we asked where she was ella screamed at us that she was, "locked in a cage. FOREVER!!!" the next day ella showed me her doll and said, "this is rosadita." i told her i was SO glad she got out of the cage! but then ella said, "NO! not THAT rosadita! you know!!!" sorry, dear!!! lol!!!

rainy afternoon...

so we had to have some warm cookies and milk, and then snuggled on the couch and watched arthur. i love days like these!!!

(from these pictures i've learned i really need to up my iso so my pictures aren't so blurry. i don't always like the grainy look, but i don't have a steady enough hand to shoot at slow shudder speeds. we'll just have to have more cookies on the next rainy day. ;) )

a weekend in ankeny...

and we had so much fun!!! the hawkeyes beat iowa state! yaaay!!! kurt took my dad and some friends to the game and they had a great time. mimi, the girls, wilson and i watched the game and snacked on mimi's delicious food. the girls always have so much fun at mimi and papa's. there are always new things to discover. and i appreciate my mom's cooking and mimi and papa's help so much. here are a few pictures: (those are mimi and papa's home grown tomatoes. yuuuum!!!!)
